Bani and the Star Post Office

At night a stardust envelope invited Bani to the observatory. Its telescope offered no magic answers, only a wonderfully clear view.

The Moon looked close but remained far away. It reflected sunlight and travelled around Earth.

A model showed Earth among the planets. They orbit the Sun, and the Sun is our nearest star.

Stars make their own light while planets mostly reflect light. A tiny-looking distant star may actually be enormous.

People imagine lines between stars and name constellations. Bani found a pattern shaped like one giant ear.

An ordinary telescope must never point at the Sun. Bani observed at night with an adult and protected his eyes.

At dawn, their side of Earth turned toward the Sun. Day and night change because Earth rotates.

Bani posted a starry card home: “The more we learn about the sky, the more good questions we discover.”
